USMMA Show Kits Program
I am very excited to take on the Show and Events Awards position and get more involved in the association. I have some new ideas to get this program running efficiently and offer more to our members. I would love to get your ideas and feedback as well.
About the Show and Event “Kits”
These kits are designed to help you set up a display or booth at a horse show, expo or any local or barn event to attract attention and draw people in.
We have utilized the USMMA show kit in Arizona and in California and they have been helpful in getting information out about our amazing breed!
The basic display kit would have some basic advertising info, banners, and MM merchandise that can be displayed on a table and given out at shows and events. We would like to offer a kit to each of our regions if they are interested. These kits would be given to each of the Regional Directors who are in charge of organizing events, and assisting those in their region who are hosting events. I would also ask that they keep track of inventory and keep me updated with what they have so that I can replenish the handout materials. I will send the initial inventory sheet of items in your kit.
The larger pop-up banners can be added to each regional kit as requested by the Regional Director for a specific show opportunity.
What I need from you:
I need your helping filling these kits! We want to represent everyone equally at these shows. As we all know it has been a large group effort to get the Marchador breed more recognition and make it known by many. We still have a long way to go. I would like to ask that you send flyers, pamphlets, or business cards, that best showcase your barn, breeding program, training program and MM horses. I just ask that it be professional and that you can send a substantial amount. We currently have 6 regions so I would like to have enough to send out at least 100 or more per kit.
Please send your handout materials to the USMMA office whose address is at the bottom of this email on or before May 1st if possible.
How do I get a kit for my region:
Step 1. Reach out to your Regional Director to request a Show Kit. Your Director will ask about the event(s) you plan on having or hosting.
Step 2: If your Regional Director does not already have a Show Kit they can reach out to me directly to receive one. If there is already one in your region then arrangements can be made for shipping or delivery. The USMMA will pay for shipping one-way. A refundable deposit of $50 paid to the USMMA will be required to receive a basic Show Kit for a show or event. This is to ensure that they are not lost or damaged. In the case, that a Show Kit is not returned the deposit can help to fund a new kit.
Step 3: Please return your Show Kit back to your Regional Director. You are responsible for the shipping cost on return. Any Show Kit that is not returned will not receive their deposit back.
If, for any reason, you are having difficulty receiving a Show Kit or getting in contact with your Regional Director you can reach out to me personally.
I am hoping these show kit displays will help represent our Marchador breed all over the country!
If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to reach out!
Best regards,D.j. Sims Klein

HELP WANTED!
The USMMA could use more volunteers to help or manage in the following areas:
- Affiliate Associations and Breed Awards
- Marketing/Advertising
- Newsletter Editor
- Newsletter Contributor
- Membership
- Member Benefits and Sponsors
- Website
Here is a snapshot of what might be involved in each area.
Affiliate Associations and Breed Awards – Search for new associations that might benefit or collaborate with the USMMA for common goals. Be the liaison to answer questions or attend affiliate member meetings. Set up new year-end award programs if possible. Present the request for funding or collaboration to the USMMA Board for approval. All funding subject to the USMMA budget for the current year. Currently done now by Lynn Kelley temporarily. Check with Lynn if you have more questions.
Marketing/Advertising – This could be two separate areas with 2 individuals interested or one person trying to dabble in both. Search for opportunities to advertise or promote the Mangalarga Marchador breed in social media groups, magazines, on-line, television, etc. Create or find logo’d M brand items to get more people wearing or displaying the international symbol of the Mangalarga Marchador. Present the request for funding or opportunity found to the USMMA Board for approval. All funding subject to the USMMA budget for the current year.
Newsletter Editor – Create the newsletter for distribution to member groups for USMMA News and Member News. Currently using constant contact for distribution, but other formats can be suggested. Create a list of suggested topics and encourage members and breeders to contribute to that issue. For example: Stallion Issue, Foal issue, Spotlights on new members etc. All newsletters must be approved before distribution or publication on-line. Currently done by Tresa Smith/Lynn Kelley.
Newsletter Contributor – Volunteer to write a regular column for the Newsletter. For example, report on a certain sport, the events coming up or members’ results. Or share your MM photos if you are a photographer!
Membership – Working with the USMMA Treasurer, implement the process to contact all members at renewal time. This usually involves follow-up work on the phone after the initial membership effort is completed. Also try new methods or ideas to reach those Marchador owners who have not joined to encourage them to join our association.
Member Benefits and Sponsors – Seek out opportunities to get more member benefits – like discounts for our members. Or contact organizations and companies that may be interested in contributing to the USMMA in exchange for something we can do for them – like including them on the website or hanging a banner they provide at every USMMA event.
Website – Volunteer to take on the website administration or to be a tester/proofreader for new items. We could use a website savvy person to take on updating and testing our websites. Currently, we have 2 websites – one using WordPress and a new one in development using Shopify. We would like the look and feel to be current and for the site to be easy to use on all devices. Currently being handled by Lynn Kelley/Randy Conilogue for WordPress and Dana Johnsen for Shopify. All current people have indicated they need more help. Please contact them if you want more information about what might be involved and the time commitment.
Please send an email to usmmarchador@gmail.com if you are interested in the above jobs! OR send us an email if you are interested in helping in ANY capacity. We will work together to make it happen. Thank you!

DECEMBER JINGLE BELL SHOW RECAP
By Linda Holst
Congratulations to all of the USMAA members and friends who came to support the Mangalarga Marchador horses showing in the 21st Jingle Bell Show, produced by the Southern California Horsemans Council in Del Mar, CA on Dec 9-12, 2021!
A variety of breeds were represented in their respective breed classes, American Saddlebreds, Morgans, Friesians, Andalusians, Mangalarga Marchadors, Hackney Ponies, Trotters, and in Other Gaited Breeds including Icelandic Pony. The Del Mar Fairgrounds was full of beautiful horses with each barn being decorated with the Holiday theme including those simultaneously competing in the English Jumper Show.
The event was a huge success in many ways! It brought breeders and owners together to get more acquainted and showcased the breed to the public. Having the MM breed participate in specific Marchador breed classes and as well as participating in OGB (Other Gaited Breed) classes made a significant impact for generating breed awareness. The show attendees watching the classes were truly intrigued and many came by the barn to see the horses. Show judge Tamme Conatser, from Nicholasville, KY expressed her warm welcome to the breed entries and the Mangalarga Marchadors were thanked as a class sponsor.
Marchador breed group organizer Daniel Pulliam was newly introduced to this breed in March by Rancho Linda Marchadores. He deserves special recognition for his show vision, his ability to unify enough Marchador owners to participate in a very complex event and the way he executed the very professional breed barn presentation for everyone’s benefit. He worked with the SCHC show owners to add a number of extra OGB classes in order to show the Mangalarga Marchador breed as much as possible. As he states, “the goal was to present Marchadors in a ‘Big Way’ so that no one could miss them!”
Over the four days, Marchadors were in a total of 21 classes including two OGB Parade classes and the OGB Champagne class, which provided the perfect opportunity to showcase their unique gait. All of the Marchadors were amazing in classes held under the huge covered arena in a ring with giant Christmas décor, lights, noise, despite having little to no previous show experience! All were winners by participating! Between all of the wonderful attributes of this breed and skilled riders and handlers, each class was a success!
As this event was a circuit rated breed show with sponsored classes for Marchador horses, everyone was proud to have 18 horses fill the show barn to compete in 3 sponsored classes that were dedicated to Mangalarga Marchador In Hand so all of the horses could participate as well as compete in 18 “Other Gaited Breeds”(OGB) classes including Open Halter, Horse In Hand, English/Western 2 Gait and English/Western 3 gait categories. The 2 Gait classes were shown in gait of choice – walk, gait (Picada or Batida) and 3 Gait classes included the canter.
Participating MM horses:
(4) Stallions: Delmug Dos Bugres, Talisma’s Apache Do High Country, Avatar De Los Cielos, Jedi-Knight Do Summerwind.
(2) Geldings: Brioso Do InMotion, Eduardo Do MManor
(12) Mares: Cheyenne Do High Country, Sonadora De Los Cielos, Querida De Los Cielos, Aria De Los Cielos, Allegria De Los Cielos, Bella Duquesa Do MManor, Brava Fazenda Zouga, Janela Da Gameleira Soberana, Ariana Do Rancho Linda Marchadores, Gigi Do Rancho Linda Marchadores, E’Divalia Do Rancho Linda Marchadores, LaponiaTrimonte.
Attending USMAA members were Alessandra Deerinck, Elizabeth Sims, Dinusha Perera, Jake Martinez & Teresa Longo, Grady Willard, Randy Gassett, Jason Lambrose, Aline & Brisa Greene, Ronald Knaack, Linda Holst, Daniel Pulliam and Michele Ferragut. Everyone helped out. It was “all hands on deck”! Both Randy Gassett who showed Sonadora De Los Cielos and Deedee Davies who showed Peggy Grower’s Brioso InMotion from FL were volunteers.
Two dedicated center ringside boxes with daily snack baskets, sponsored by Summerwind Marchadors, provided the group with excellent viewing and united group support for the riders and horses. It was so much fun to see this many Marchador horses together!

Photo3: L-R Brisa Greene, Linda Holst, Aline Greene, Grady Willard, Claudia Bellandi, Michele Ferragut, Ronald Knaack, Daniel PulliamBreeders present at the show were Rancho Linda Marchadores (CA), Rancho De Los Cielos (CA), High Country Marchadors (CO), Silver Stables Marchadors (AZ), Saint Horse Marchadores (SC) and C&C Bellandi Mangalarga Marchador (FL).

A special thank you goes to Claudia Bellandi for her generous support by sending her imported batida stallion Delmug Dos Bugres from Florida to CA and spending two weeks prior to the show in CA preparing her stallion and Rancho Linda Marchador mares for their classes. She and Delmug were super stars in 14 classes. A true eye-catching highlight was the Parade Championship class that “wowed” the audience when “Santa Claus” (Claudia) arrived on a Marchador in full costume from head to tail!
All show participants were happy to have an imported champion stallion as a celebrity representative from Brazil place first in 13 of the 14 classes he was in. (Avatar De Los Cielos placed 1st in Mangalarga Marchador In Hand Stallions/geldings and Delmug was 2nd.) Jedi-Knight Do Summerwind followed Delmug with 2nd place in OGB Eng/Western 2 Gait Stallions/Geldings and OGB Eng/Western 2 Gait Open that included mares. The top two placing mares with 15 classes each were Ariana Do Rancho Linda Marchadores and Gigi Do Rancho Linda Marchadores. (The stallions placed higher than the mares in joint classes.)
Building on this momentum, the next big show in the SCHC circuit will be the Santa Barbara National Show in early July 2022. Plans are underway for Marchadors to be represented by Rancho De Los Cielos, Rancho Linda Marchadores, High Country Marchadors along with C&C Bellandi who will ship 3 stallions and hopes to sponsor an ABCCMM judge from Brazil to judge the Marchador breed classes. All MM owners are enthusiastically encouraged to participate in this show, particularly from California, Arizona and Montana. Please contact Daniel Pulliam dpulliam86@gmail.com or call 575.613.5148 for more show information.

Looking for a Marchador?
Attached is – The 2021/2022 USMMA Breeder Directory.
The Breeder Directory has full information on the USMMA Members who are also Marchador Breeders.
