  • Announcement – New USMMA Registrar

    September 15th, 2017

    To all USMMA members:

Megan Fallwell, the USMMA Registrar for many years, has stepped down because of time commitments. We have another USMMA member who has volunteered to take over this critical position.  Our website and the UC Davis genetics lab materials have been updated accordingly.

We are looking to train an associate Registrar as well as one of our goals for 2018 is to be at least 2 deep in every position.   If you are interested in learning more and volunteering to learn our registration process, please contact me for more information.

Below is some information about Randy.   We are fortunate that Randy is a computer whiz as our on-line pedigree database,  powered by WIKIHORSE has decided to go off-line unexpectedly and without warning recently.     Randy is working on creating our own system as he learns the registry position   Our data integrity and reporting will improve immensely by the time we are done.     We still have our USMMA pedigree database but not on-line.   So, for a temporary on-line solution,  we are also working to update http://horsemanager.com from our registry database information for pedigree look-up capability.

Randy’s email is drrlc@aol.com     Contact him to report changes in your horse’s gender, color, or to transfer the registration paper to a new owner.   For new foal reporting, we do have a new form on the USMMA website.   http://t3k.315.mywebsitetransfer.com/new-foal-registration-form/

Because WIKIHORSE disappeared, we did lose a lot of the photos you have sent in of your horses.   We would love to get new photos too.

Please welcome Randy into his new role.   Thank you Megan for your service.   And thank you Randy for stepping in.

    Regards,

    Jeff Bosley, USMMA President

    About Randy:

    Randy Conilogue, PhD EE, retired

Randy was born and raised in the central California valley.   Attending UCLA’s Electrical Engineering School, Randy Completed his BS, MS, and PhD degrees with a primary focus on Semiconductor Physics. While working on his Masters degree, he hired into Hughes Aircraft as a summer hire, eventually becoming a fellowship employee, and thereafter continued to work for Hughes and its successive companies, Hughes Electronics and Raytheon. Randy worked on airborne radars, missile seekers, GPS, and other defense systems.

While at UCLA, Randy met his future wife Karen Livesay,  (though he did not not know at the time) through friends in the Greek system. They did not see each other for many years after college and later reconnected, and have been married over 35 years.  He and Karen fostered two boys for 11 years.

In 1997 Randy and Karen decided to move to Sedona AZ.   Randy retired from Raytheon in 2011.  After retirement, and Randy and Karen started to travel around to world to bucket list places such as London, Paris, Africa, Dubai, Rome, Prague, Budapest, Alaska, New Orleans, Pagosa Springs, Istanbul, Greece, Croatia, Brazil, China, Russia, and many others.

Randy and Karen are starting to slow down the foreign travel and enjoy their horses and pets and retirement lifestyle. Randy decided a new challenge and education was in store, by learning to ride, train, and understand Karen’s horses.  He now is riding Karen’s sweet natured Mangalarga Marchadors and telling Karen how she should train them (not the wisest move to a woman who has had horses since childhood). At first Randy couldn’t even say Mangalarga Marchador, instead referring to them as a Maquiladora Margaritas.  He likes the breed for being wonderful athletic companions with strong, exotic and graceful looks.

Randy likes to hike and bike, and volunteers with the local Boy Scouts of America troop in Sedona as an assistant scoutmaster, and the First Robotics Competition in Phoenix Arizona as a robot inspector and Workshop coordinator.

Karen and Randy own 3 Marchador horses :  Flying Oaks Pegasus and Jorge-Ben de Lazy T, MM geldings and Isabelle do Great Lakes, a MM mare.

  • Registry Update Project to Begin

USMMA Members and Mangalarga Marchdor Horse Owners will be contacted during September and October to help us  correct and update the USMMA Horse Registration Database.    We will be requesting and validating the horses’ information like color, sex, death, and ownership.   We will also be trying to collect in new photos.

Some of the information we have is taken at the time of registry.   We know that some horses change color, get gelded or change hands, but often these life events are not communicated to us.   Hence, the reason for the survey.

diego1USMMA Members Lynn Kelley and Tresa Smith will be conducting this survey along with our Registrar, Megan Fallwell.   We do not anticipate this project costing any dollars to complete.

We will be emailing each recorded owner the USMMA record on their horse or horses and asking them to complete the survey and correct information.
Please return the emails and surveys by November 1.

  • WikiHorseWorld Pedigree Update

Abaiba Remo – is your Marchador a grandchild?

All of the North American Mangalarga Marchadors AND their ancestors have been added to our new pedigree system.  It was a big effort to transfer our data manually.

938 Mangalarga Marchador horses are in our database. (206 are registered with the USMMA, but that number includes some horses that are now deceased).  All of the North American horses have photos and overall, 37% have photos.  Like Ancestry.com, you can go explore your horse’s lineage.  You can find them in the Registry section of this website on the page labeled View Pedigree.

Information about the horses was added if it was available, like date of birth, color, registration number etc.  However, if you look at the record, there is lots more room to add information about your horse – shows, awards, disciplines, height, weight, any kind of write-up.  If you find errors, want to change the photo or want to add more information or video to your horse’s record, please send that request to the USMMA registrar.

You are able to download and print your horse’s pedigree whenever you want.  On the pedigree form, you will notice a scannable code (using any smart phone) that will take you directly to the website and that pedigree on the website.

The USMMA registrar, now Megan McClarney Fallwell,  will continue to issue the official registration document and the foal registration procedures remain the same.

    Future Plans:

Classified ads will facilitate MM sales or stallion stud services. Photo shows Flying Oaks 2 year old colts.

Around April 2012, I will be adding and testing the WikiHorseWorld Classified Ads system if they have it completed on time.

WikiHorseWorld currently offers four ad “categories” for Horses, Products, Services, and Events. They will be developing four additional ad categories for Equine Real Estate, Trailers, Saddles, and Horse Hay (a total of 8 Classified Ad categories).

There will be options for simple ads and premium ads.  Premium ads would include photos and videos.

During this timeframe is when WikiHorseWorld anticipates that members will be able to add photos, videos from your computer, and videos from YouTube to your Marchador’s pedigree.  The classified ads and the horse’s pedigree, pictures and videos will be displayed on the USMMA website and also WikiHorseWorld’s website.

  • USMMA Website Updates

      President’s Letter   USMMA

        WikiHorseWorld

    Announcing
    WikiHorseWorld Pedigree System!

The USMMA has adopted Wiki as its official pedigree and
registration system replacing HorseManager.com whose registration program had stopped functioning several months ago with no fix in sight.

WikiHorseWorld’s pedigree system is state-of-the-art and features interactive pedigree charts and unlimited
photos, videos, and details for every horse.
WikiHorseWorld software was provided at no cost to the USMMA.  However, the trade-off is that they will post ads on these pedigree pages.  We are still in development with them, but it is working today.

The pedigree system is embedded into our website by clicking VIEW PEDIGREE under the REGISTRY tab.

    www.namarchador.org/registry/view-pedigree

On this screen will be a listing of all the horses in our database, including those in the background of our horses.

On the right-hand side is a box where you can search by the name of the horse to get a specific horse, or by the gender to sell all stallions, or by association to see only USMMA horses etc.  We will be customizing this box over time so the selection
criteria fits better and we don’t see all breeds and all associations in the selection menu.

Now search for a horse that is in our database: Bossa Nova de Miami is one that shows what information is possible about your horse.

    You should be able
to view Bossa Nova’s horse details, view the pedigree or print the pedigree.   You can also see her offspring
listed as well.   You can click on any horse in the pedigree to get more information (whatever we have)
    on that horse.

    Because HorseManager
has stopped support, we will have to re-enter all of our horses.   We are starting immediately
beginning with horses with the letter A. While we have only 200+ Mangalarga Marchadors in North America, their pedigree information makes this a task of entering over 1200 horses!   Lynn Kelley, our current Registrar,  will be entering all history over the next three months.   Please be patient – all the information on your horse may not be there right away.  Check back often to see the progress!

Currently, WikiHorseWorld only allows the administrator (registrar) to enter data, but they are working on opening the system so that when you log in to namarchador.org, you will be able to add photos and videos on your horses.    For the initial loading of the database, we will upload at least one photo from horsemanager.com.    Once the feature is available that allows the owner to add or change photos, you can update your horse’s record.

The registration process remains the same.  This system just replaces horsemanager.com.  The Registrar will
continue to enter the pedigree information, registration number and DNA.

Plans for the future include adding a Classified Ads section that works with this pedigree system so that you may list horses for sale and perhaps more horse-related items for sale.

        Member Login

    This feature is fixed!

You can view the entire NAMARCHADOR website – ALL FEATURES, except for member directory WITHOUT signing in.   There are over 150 posts (our historical newsletters, press releases, the Importer articles and more) that have been moved from the old website usmarchador.com.

However, you do need to LOGIN to ADD a post and to VIEW our USMMA member directory.  On the MEMBER FORUM tab, you will see a different listing on the right-hand column.   It lists all post categories, recent posts and posts by date.  The largest typeface means that category has the most posts.   You can use this right-hand column to search for posts you are interested in.  This column should appear also on the MEMBER POSTS page, but does not.  That still needs to be fixed.

To add a post or comment on a post, here is all you need to do:

On the website, under MEMBER FORUM, click on MEMBER POSTS.  All of the posts will appear and in the top right corner, there is a new menu bar.

New Post   Manage   Comments   Dashboard   Profile   Logout

Click on New Post.   New posts allow you to type in whatever you want.  In addition, you can attach pdf files, photos or videos into your posts.   You can also add comments to other posts that are entered.

If you want to add posts and have signed up on the website, but no longer remember your sign-on or password, please contact Lynn Kelley at kelleyaz@rnsmte.com until we announce a new website administrator.    And, if you have never signed in and need help, contact Lynn as well.

The member directory lists all of our members.  If you wish to be marked PRIVATE, so that your information cannot be viewed by other members, please let me know.   Currently, all records are public.   If you see a mistake in your information, you must also still contact us.  Right now, changing your PROFILE information does not change the member directory.

*Please note any new login will take 24-48 hours to be activated.
