The U.S. Mangalarga Marchador Association (USMMA) provides a meeting place and an official registry for all North American Mangalarga Marchador horses, owners and breeders – past, present and future! The USMMA is dedicated to providing information and assistance in all areas to promote this breed that is new to our continent. The USMMA is affiliated with and recognized by the Associacao Brasileira dos Criadores do Cavalo Mangalarga Marchador (ABCCMM), the Brazilian organization founded to preserve, regulate and register the unique bloodlines of this magnificent breed.…
About UsWe are a small, elite, passionate group that own or just love Marchador horses. In 2011, there were over 70 members located in 25 states and 3 Canadian Provinces that share their love for what the Brazilians call “the Perfect Horse”. Our main focus is on our registry and breed standards. However, we also try to promote the Mangalarga Marchador breed and recognize our members in those efforts. Show in any organized horse event or competition and receive recognition and awards from the Association. Present your Marchador at a horse expo and get help setting up a display or booth. The Association offers financial support as well as booth materials to help setting up a display for the Mangalarga Marchador breed and the USMMA. Share stories and pictures about your Marchador in our newsletter, facebook or member blog here on the website. Learn more about the Marchador breed with continuing education efforts and clinics. And they represent the best of the best – in athletic competition, in conformation, in gait and in reproduction! There are three independent judges who combine their scores to determine the winner. The judges will also ride the top contenders. - Registration Help – ABCCMMABCCMM registration is not required by the USMMA. Members may elect to dual register their horses with the ABCCMM. If so, the member is responsible for following ABCCMM regulations, completing the necessary forms and paying the ABCCMM fees. ABCCMM Membership is required if you want to register your farm name as a breeding farm to name your foals. The fees are established in Brazilian reals. The annual membership fee is approximately $325 US, but be sure to check an on-line currency converter for actual fees as currency rates fluctuate. You do not need to be an ABCCMM member for many transactions. However, all fees are about double those for a member. All fees are payable by credit card to the ABCCMM. Although grays predominate, chestnut, black, bay, buckskin, palomino and paint horses are also present. An adept and extreamly versatile breed, the Mangalarga Marchador is fast becoming one of the most sought after breeds. As with many Iberian breeds they are good cattle horses. They are known for setting the Guinness Book of World Records endurance ride of 8,694 miles in 1994. A perfect trail horse, they could also excel in other disciplines that require agility, stamina, speed and a sound mind. Training of this breed is facilitated by its intelligence, and uses for the breed are unlimited. In work with cattle, in sports, in Brazilian functional trials, or in cross-country horsemanship, the Marchador is outstanding and is obtaining excellent results in comparison to other breeds. To ensure and warrant the genetic identification of horses born in North America. To share genealogy records with the Brazilian association (ABCCMM) for those association members interested in dual registry. North American-born foals that are the product of two USMMA-registered Mangalarga Marchador parents can also be registered in the USMMA’s purebred Marchador books. Shows/EventsShow Subsidy [caption id=u0022attachment_1097u0022 align=u0022alignleftu0022 width=u0022300u0022 caption=u0022Horse Expo u0022][/caption] The USMMA would like to encourage and support any member planning to attend or participate in a Horse Exhibition or Show where there is an opportunity to exhibit the Mangalarga Marchador. Any USMMA member can submit a request for support to the Show Chair Bill Kambic, who will review and approve any request. The following support is on a first come first served basis and approval is at the sole discretion of the Show Chair. Financial support of up to $250 per show with an annual maximum of $750, to be used to cover any costs associated with exhibiting or demonstrating a Mangalarga Marchador. Access to USMMA show kit materials suitable to set up a booth to provide information about the Marchador. Shipping costs to and from the show to be paid by the USMMA member requesting the show kit.
