    It’s a New Year! 
    We want to extend an invitation to join for new members who share our passion for Mangalarga Marchador horses – and to welcome back our cherished returning members. As always, we give thanks for our lifetime members whose unwavering support is essential to our mission to our incredible Mangalarga Marchador breed in North America. Lynn Kelley, USMMA Treasurer, is the membership coordinator with assistance from Amanda Moreira, Haras Yara, UT and others who join in on a local level. 

    We encourage members to renew promptly, as Lynn will start sending PayPal renewal invoices to current USMMA members this month. You can use the address on the invoice if you wish to pay by check. There are new ways to join immediately on your own. Use thislink to pay with a credit card. Pay using ZELLE or VENMO to usmmarchador@gmail.com

    Help us to foster a passionate and supportive community that thrives on engagement and collaboration as we celebrate the beauty and legacy of the Mangalarga Marchador breed! We believe in making our membership accessible to everyone, with individual fees set at an incredibly reasonable $50 per year and family memberships at just $75. To further accommodate different needs, we offer options for multiple-year memberships and lifetime memberships.

    We encourage you to bring your ideas and projects to the table—your creativity and initiative are what drive our community forward! Join us to work on these new efforts.

    The USMMA is the official Mangalarga Marchador nucleo in North America, recognized by the Brazilian MM Association, the ABCCMM.   The 2026 ABCCMM dues are due now. We can assist you in paying your 2026 ABCCMM fees if you are also an ABCCMM member. We pay in Brazilian Reals and you pay us in US$. Contact us if you need help this month.



  • 2024 Membership Drive

    It is time for our annual membership drive! We’d like for you to join us for 2024! We are kicking off 2024 with a lot of MM activity with clinics in AZ and NJ and a AERC convention in NM! 
    Your membership is critical because it sustains our organization to govern, register, protect and promote the Mangalarga Marchador breed in North America. 

    Lynn Kelley, USMMA Treasurer, is the membership coordinator with added help from your local Regional Director. 

    This week Lynn will be sending all 2023 annual members a PayPal invoice to renew membership if membership is due during January – July. (For August -December renewals, your invoices will be sent in July. We are working to make this process more automated by that time). The PayPal invoice will indicate what month your membership expires. You can renew now or when the membership expires using PayPal (a credit card on PayPal), Zelle to usmmarchador@gmail.com or Check mailed to our address below.

    NEW this year! The USMMA can also include your 2024 ABCCMM fees for those of you who are ABCCMM members as well. This is often difficult for our members to get onto the ABCCMM website and pay there. Let us know and Lynn will include your ABCCMM fees (in US dollars) to the USMMA Paypal invoice and we will pay the ABCCMM fees for you.

    We will be trying a new approach this year, and would like your feedback – if you think it makes it easier. Lynn will send out a PayPal invoice to the email on record for renewals to every 2021 member. Please take note of the due date on the invoice as all invoices will be dated to reflect the renewal month. You can pay sooner but renewals are due one year from your last payment. You can pay with PayPal, with Zelle or just mail in a check as always.

    It’s time for our annual membership drive! We’d like for you to join us in 2020!   Your renewal is critical because it sustains our organization to govern, register, protect and promote the Mangalarga Marchador breed in North America.


    Lynn Kelley and Tresa Smith are the membership coordinators. We are running our drive a little differently this year so you can renew now or at any time before your renewal month. 


    In addition, this year, we are asking 2 new questions:

    1. Do you wish for your contact information to be shared with the membership in our MEMBER DIRECTORY?
    2. What is your preferred method of contact? EMAIL or TEXT

    The USMMA is the official Mangalarga Marchador organization recognized by the Brazilian MM Association, the ABCCMM. In 2019, we were approved to be an ABCCMM nucleo, able to hold official ABCCMM events developed for the MM breed. We developed a new Mangalarga Marchador breed video that will be posted on youtube.com soon. 


    Here are some of the plans for 2020! We start off in January with a Marchador horse show in Scottsdale, AZ with trail rides and a sports competition.   We publish the MM community news in the USMMA Quarterly Journal and on the website.. In August, we sponsor a Marchador Cavalgada in Montana. We’d also like to have more events regionally, but that all depends on local participation and interest.  We are searching for one or two major equine events to exhibit our breed – similar to the Equine Affaire that was so successful for us in November 2019.  We are looking for and adding some member benefits in discount programs. The first to come is Riding Warehouse where USMMA members will receive a 15% discount when using our coupon code.  More information will follow in January about this new benefit. 


    Throughout the year, we support members with registrations, transfers and our show subsidy and “meet the Marchador” cash awards. We continue to look for press opportunities and ways to get the word out about the breed. Horse Illustrated features the breed in their January issue, as an example. We are exploring relationships with other breed associations too as a way to get more opportunities to showcase our horses. And we hope to set up a USMMA Mangalarga Marchador store with logo’d items that help publicize the breed every day with what you wear or what you drive.

  • 2017 USMMA Membership Drive

    I will be running the campaign at the start until a chairperson is named for the year.   An email from USMMA Secretary Alessandra Deerinck will be sent next week.

    If you wish to join us in helping to build and promote the Mangalarga Marchador breed here in North America, please sign up to renew your annual membership.   We have lowered dues to make it affordable for everyone to participate.

    We are lucky to have so many volunteers, like the USMMA Board that keep the association moving forward.  And also our 13 Lifetime Members ($1,000).   We are able to do more because of all of them!

    Your membership dues cover the website costs, the costs of holding board meetings, USMMA phone calls, legal fees and a few member benefits like printing brochures, 1 advertising campaign and the member show subsidy.

    The registry fees cover the costs for the registry office, paper, mailing and DNA tests with UC Davis.

    All other programs are funded with additional fund raising or charges for participation like the USMMA clinics or ABCCMM inspection visits.

    We had a rebuilding year in 2016 and are ready for 2017 to serve you. I am planning the following for 2017:

    1. Reinstate our USMMA newsletter as a professional quarterly journal publication.
    2. Hold a USMMA clinic and horse show.
    3. Host regional events or get-togethers in 4 -5 regions.
    4. Help facilitate ABCCMM activities such as ABCCMM inspection visits and other joint activities.
    5. Hold elections for the new Board for 2018.

    We did accomplish some of the goals we set for 2016 including the ABCCMM inspection visit and the 2016 Breyerfest in KY that featured the Mangalarga Marchador. We also are finishing a Registry Survey and Update Project that will ensure our databasee in up-to-date. The registry serves to meet our overall association goals and along with the website, are big and often, unnoticed member benefits.

    I would welcome your input on how what additional efforts you would like to see or ideas you have to help us make the Marchador breed more well-known and become more wide-spread.
