  • Member Directory Update

In March, we sent out an email survey asking members if they wanted to be included in a new MEMBER DIRECTORY.   We promised to share the results or our survey.   If you missed the survey, click on this link here.

Here are the results: 36 members responded YES.

We are assuming that if a member did not respond, that their response is NO.   There is still time to get included if you missed the survey email.
Because of the positive response we will be publishing a MEMBER DIRECTORY of the members who responded yes.   We will also update the Breeder’s Directory and distribute both in April.

In future USMMA membership drives, we will add a check box to be included in the member directory simplifying the process and publish earlier.

Thank you for participating and sharing.

    Best regards,

    Jeff Bosley USMMA Presidentpaboz24@gmail.com

  • USMMA Member Directory Survey

The USMMA already produces a BREEDER’S LIST to give out at events and to anyone contacting us via the website.   Attached is last year’s breeder’s list.   We are currently updating this for 2019.   If you have recently become a Mangalarga Marchador breeder, please let us know if you want to be on this list.

This year, we would also like to produce a printed MEMBER DIRECTORY.   Our intent is share the information to promote the opportunities for local people to meet and share information about their horses.    However, we also want to protect your privacy and recognize that these days giving out personal information is risky.    The MEMBER DIRECTORY will only be shared with other USMMA members who request it along with our request that it not be shared or used for solicitation purposes.  We would include:

  • Arizona Horse Fair March 29-31 Canceled

The organizers of the Arizona Horse Fair (formerly the MANE EVENT) announced today that the event will not take place.

The USMMA was scheduled to have a booth at this event in Scottsdale AZ as it has in the past 2 years. We are sorry that the show is not going on.

We will be looking, as always, to find other venues where we can promote the Mangalarga Marchador breed. Please contact us if you have an event or show in your area that you would like us to consider.

  • 2019 Membership Drive Underway!

It’s time for our membership renewal drive!   Please consider joining or renewing your membership in the USMMA again in 2019!

You are a member of a small, elite, passionate group that own, breed or just love Marchador horses.  Our mission is to promote and protect the Mangalarga Marchador breed here in North America.    The USMMA is the official Mangalarga Marchador organization recognized by the Brazilian Association, the ABCCMM.

We started the year with 94 members and ended with 123, our highest membership to date.   We have $10,000 in our bank account.  In 2018, we spent money on the following items:

Registration (incl UCDAVIS fees) 29% Website  23% Events 20% Show Subsidies 13% Advertising     9% Office, Postage, fees  6%

One of our events was the MANE EVENT in March 2018.   Over 30 members came to the event (from 7 states and 3 countries) and 7 Marchador horses represented our association and breed there.   Horse Illustrated ran an article on the breed and the USMMA and other breeders advertised in that issue.   We coordinated and planned an ABCCMM inspection trip for our members that want dual registration.   In addition, we published our own USMMA Marchador Quarterly Journal with the help of editor Tresa Smith and publisher Lynn Kelley.   We gave out $500 in show subsidy awards administered by Laurie Klassen.   Randy Conilogue, our Registrar, has served the association well with quality work and attention to detail.  Randy also gave his time creating Marchador promotional videos that are now uploaded to YOUTUBE.   The USMMA board is an all-volunteer board working on your behalf.  (Jeff Bosley, President, Cathy Pierce, Vice President, Tia Nelson, Secretary, Lynn Kelley, Treasurer, Jake Martinez, Rick Schatz and Aline Greene)

In 2019, we are planning for more events including the Equine Affaire in Springfield MA and a Marchador riding weekend in Montana.   We hope we will be able to reach more people and see more members with our planned functions!  Tell us what you would like to see happening in 2019.

Thank you for your continued support and enthusiasm!   Your dues make it possible.   JOIN TODAY by visiting this website page.

  • New VP Cathy Pierce

Alessandra Deerinck who served on the Board as Secretary and then Vice President has resigned from her position. Our thanks to Alessandra who gave willingly her time and talents in so many areas for many years.

During the last Board of Directors meeting, one Board member at large, Cathy Pierce, volunteered her service and was unanimously approved. Cathy is very passionate about our horses and has the experience to serve the USMMA well in her new position. Cathy brings her business experience, people skills, and a desire to find solutions to problems.

We thank her for volunteering to fill this important officer position.

  • Special Election – USMMA Secretary

    Dear USMMA Members:

We are struggling without someone taking Alessandra Deerinck’s place as Secretary and therefore, I have decided to hold a Special Election for the the sole purpose of adding a new Secretary.  If you are interested in running for this office, please fill out this form to submit your name and your qualifications.  In order to serve, you must own a Mangalarga Marchador horse and be a current USMMA member as of 4/1/2018.

The deadline for submitting your nomination is 5/11/18 and the election will be held the following week.   In the event, that only one person volunteers, we reserve the right to appoint that individual without an election.

Please fill out the form below to submit your name to volunteer!
The Secretary is responsible for announcing,  planning and organizing the Board of Director meetings and making sure that the meeting is minuted properly.   They maintain the effective records and governing documents of the association.    This position requires strong organizational skills, computer savvy and good writing skills too.   Knowing Roberts Rules of Order is a plus.

    Regards,
    Jeff Bosley
    USMMA President
