First All-Marchador Class in Scottsdale

La Paz Jivago after winning the class in Scottsdale December 2005 marked the first Marchador-only classes at a local all-breed and gaited horse show. Held in Scottsdale Arizona with horses from Summerwind Marchadors and Great Lakes Marchadors participating. Three classes were held with at least four Marchadors in each class. None of the horses had shown before and all looked spectacular and well in hand.
Because of the limited number of horses in each area, it is easier to join an all-breed show if you are interested in showing your Marchador.
Show rules can be obtained from the USMMA office. See our events calendar for events happening in your area. -

Board Meeting
Our thanks to Tresa Smith, MT for hosting the August meeting.
A discussion was held concerning the Marchador breed standard of the ABCCMM. After the discussion, it was concluded that there may be some areas of difference between what the USMMA members want and th ABCCMM. A breed standards committee was formed, chaired by Tresa Smith to make recommendations at the next meeting.
A proposal to begin a half-Marchador registry was introduced. There were split opinions with some members stauch supporters and others against it as a loss of focus during these critical years of building breed awareness. A motion was made to encourage half-Marchador owners to join as associate members to determine the level of interest during 2006.
There was a sharing of marketing ideas around advertising, shows and other promotions.
Association business on meetings, elections, budgets etc took up the remainder of the meeting.

July 2005 ABCCMM National Show
Author: Lynn Kelley
Please visit the Brazilian website, especially if you have a high speed connection. This year, they have video of the show so it’s like being there! All of the show results can be found on http://abccmm.org.br under XXIII National. There are the many classes for each age level, male, female. There are separate classes for gait and conformation. A champion is named at each level for the combined gait and conformation. In other words, you can have a champion in gait of yearling colts and a champion in conformation of yearling colts. Then they combine the results and obtain the overall yearling champion of the race. They do this for many age groups before all of the champions get judged for “champion of champions” – the champion of the race – for that year. Similar to best in show at Westminster.
Because of the large number of classes, we are only reporting on the Champions of the Race and the Marcha Picada class. The Marcha Picada class was new this year, so it deserves special attention. We thank the Guerra family for their efforts with the ABCCMM to showcase the picada gait at the National Show.
Champion of Champions – Junior Mare (under 3)
Champion: GENEBRA DO CARDEAL (HORIZONTAL DA OGAR x IMPERATRIZ DO GUEGA)
Reserve Champion: ÚNICA KAFÉ (PALHAÇO DE ITUVERAVA x GAROTA KAFE)
Horizontal da Ogar is the son of Almanaque da Ogar. Almanaque is also several generations back in Seamus da Boa Fe, Summerwind. Palhaco also is a descendent of Almanaque da Ogar. Garota Kafe seems to be “open book”, no information on lineage available.
Champion of Champions – Junior Stallion (under 3)
Champion: ORIGINAL DO PASSO FINO (SEIKO L.J. x DESTAQUE HONRA.)
Reserve Champion: EXTRATO DO MINATTO (RUBI L.J. x QUATIARA L.J.)
L.J is a line that seems to be producing many winners in Brazil today. While there are no direct descendents of Rubi L.J.or Seiko L.J. in the U.S. today, there are descendents of Carvao L.J. Carvao L.J. is in the background of many L.J and J.B. horses. The two related animals in the U.S. are a spotted gelding Steio do Berma, and a bay stallion Cabaclo da Piedade. (Summerwind)
Champion of Champions – Adult Stallion
Champion: VELEIRO L.J. (MARAGATO L.J. x ONDA L.J.)
Reserve Champion: LAGLÓRIA QUEBEC (CABUÇU DA SELVA MORENA x LAGLÓRIA JANDAIA)
See above comments on L.J. Maragato is a son of Carvao L.J. Cabacu da Selva Morena is a grandson.
Cabacu also has Paulista de Santa Lucia as a grandsire. He is found in the pedigrees of Jardineira da Boa Fe (Marchwind) and Seamus da Boa Fe (Summerwind). Big names in Lagloria Jandaia are Malibu da Santa Terezinha and Abaiba Gim. Malibu is the leading stallion siring show winners in Brazil. He is the grandsire of Seamus da Boa Fe (Summerwind).
Champion of Champions – Adult Mare
Champion: HELGA DA MANDASSAIA (BEIJO J.B. x GAMBIARRA DA ENCRUZILHADA)
Reserve Champion: CÓSMICA DO REBANHO (FLA FLU EDÚ. x REBECA DE INHAUMA)
Beijo J.B. is a son of Carvao L.J. (see above). Gambiarra is a granddaughter of Herdade Jupia who is well represented in the U.S. with five descendents, sometimes well into the background. Pupila de Itajoana (Lazy T), Cafundo Monalisa (Premier), La Paz Jivago (Summerwind), Seamus da Boa Fe (Summerwind) and Grahla M.U.G. (Rancho Linda)
Both Cosmica parents have an Abaiba/Providencia influence like Abaiba Gim. We have many representatives of Abaiba Gim blood in the U.S, including Jallaio da Boa Fe (Premier), Ninja da Sao Joaquim (Cielos), Jardineira da Boa Fe (Marchwind) and Jaina do Passo Fino (Cielos).
Champion Picada – Younger Stallion
Champion: NACIONAL DA CALCIOLÂNDIA (HAITY CAXAMBUENSE x GLOBAL DA CALCIOLÂNDIA)
Reserve Champion: MALUNGO N.L.J. (Esquivel N.L.J. x ÉPURA DE LIMEIRA GRANDE)
Haity Caxambuese is also the sire of Rubaia da Palmeira, a bay stallion owned by MM Horse Farms. He is very smooth! And he is available for stud or purchase.
Many may recognize the farm Calciolandia as the foundation stock, Verbena, Folha and Alecrim, all of MM Horse Farms originally, were Calciolandia horses. Gas Cardeal was the sire of Global da Calciolandia and he was also the sire of Verbena. Batuque de Miami, (Rancho Linda), Folha de Calciolandia, (Tesouro), American Boy de Miami (Prata) (Marchwind), and Chanel de Miami, (Summerwind) were Verbena foals.
N.L.J is a new farm name to us, but Esquivel N.L.J. is a son of the famous Moleque Tabatinga. Moleque Tabatinga was the sire of Dominio da Joatinga (Brauna Libertas, Lazy T, Brisa Libertas, Summerwind) and Festin Passo Fino (Jaina do Passo Fino, Cielos).
Champion Picada – Older Stallion
Champion: MOCAMBO COBRE (HERDADE CAPRICHO x AMADO CAIÇARA)
Reserve Champion: ORGULHOSO E.S (INDICADO DO BINOW x BONITA DA ESTRELA DO ORIENTE)
Herdade Capricho was a prolific sire in Brazil. Tapixaba do Vale Vermelho (Premier) has Herdade Capricho as her great grandsire. Herdade Capricho is also in Indicado’s background.
